Overview

Adobe Connect 12.12.1 is a minor release introducing new features, improvements to existing features, greater accessibility, and fixes to known issues.
Release dates
Adobe Connect 12.12.1 will roll out in the following phases:

What's new in Adobe Connect 12.12.1
Audio and Video on Restrictive Networks
Attendees whose network or device blocks standard real-time media traffic can now connect to session audio and video through an automatic fallback connection.
Adobe Connect uses WebRTC to deliver audio, camera video, and screen sharing. On restrictive networks or devices that block the ports WebRTC requires, affected participants were previously unable to hear audio, see camera video, or view screen sharing. With this release, Adobe Connect automatically attempts a WebSocket-based connection for these participants so they can take part in the session's audio and video.
This fallback affects only attendees on networks or devices that restrict WebRTC traffic. All other participants continue to connect over WebRTC as before.
Attendees connected over WebSockets:
- Are notified through a dialog when they enter the room.
- Are marked with an icon next to their name in the Attendees pod. This icon is visible only to the attendee concerned and to the hosts and presenters of the session.
- Can hear other participants, share their own audio through their microphone, and view any screen share.
- Cannot share their own camera video or view the camera video of others.
When no audio/video connection can be established (over either WebRTC or WebSockets):
- Attendees with the Participant role cannot enter the room. They are shown a landing page explaining why they are unable to join.
- Hosts, presenters, and all attendees in telephony-based audio rooms are given the option to enter the room without audio/video.
- Admins can override this behavior so that affected participants are not blocked, allowing them to enter the room without audio/video.
Improved Noise Suppression
Adobe Connect's noise suppression has been upgraded to more effectively filter background noise picked up by participant microphones, resulting in clearer speech during sessions.
UX Refinements & Other Improvements
- Introduced a new "Allow participants to Export and Print annotations" preference (Preferences > Share pod, off by default) so hosts can control whether participants can print, export, or save annotated PDF and PowerPoint content. Previously there was no setting to control this, and participants could download or print a confidential document that the host annotated during a live session.
- Renamed the room preference to "Allow participants to draw (across all share pods)" and made the option's enabled and greyed-out states consistent across Share pods. The earlier label and greyed-out behavior were ambiguous about whether drawing was being controlled globally or was simply unavailable.
