Virtual Classroom in Adobe Connect

Learn what Virtual Classrooms are in Adobe Connect and how they support interactive online training and learning experiences.

A Virtual Classroom in Adobe Connect is an interactive online learning environment designed for delivering training sessions, workshops, and collaborative courses. Unlike a standard meeting, a Virtual Classroom offers a dedicated space for trainers and learners, with tools tailored for education and engagement.

It allows instructors to present content, share resources, conduct polls, interact with participants through chat and Q&A, and track learner progress. With customizable layouts, templates, and notification options, Virtual Classrooms provide flexibility for different training needs.

Benefits of a Virtual Classroom

  • Engagement: Interactive features like polls, Q&A, and chat keep learners actively involved.
  • Flexibility: Participants can join from anywhere using a browser, without needing additional software.
  • Personalization: Hosts can customize layouts and templates to align with course requirements.
  • Control: Access levels and permissions ensure the right participants join the right sessions.

Pre-requisites

  • You must have Meeting Host and Training Manager permissions in Adobe Connect.
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Connect Central interface.

Create a Virtual classroom

To begin setting up your learning environment, you need to create a new Virtual Classroom in Adobe Connect. The creation process is handled through the Virtual Classroom wizard, which allows you to define essential details such as the classroom name, access URL, and scheduling information. This ensures that your classroom is properly identified, accessible, and ready for enrollment.

Follow these steps to create a new Virtual Classroom:

  1. Log in to Adobe Connect Central.

  2. Select Training on the menu bar of Adobe Connect Central home page.

  3. Select New Virtual Classroom to start the Virtual Classroom wizard

Enter Virtual Classroom information

  1. On the first page of the wizard, enter the following details:

    • Name (required)
    • Classroom ID
    • Custom URL
    • Summary
    • Start time and duration
  2. Select the template and language. View Create and manage Virtual Classrooms for more information.

  3. Set the access levels. The available options are:

    • Only users officially enrolled in the Virtual Classroom can join.
    • Any user with an Adobe Connect account on your organization can join.
    • Account members can access the room even if the host hasn't joined.
    • Only guests who are approved by the host at the time of entry can join.
    • Open access to anyone with the link, with no login or approval required.
    • Requires attendees to enter a password to join the session, in addition to the selected access option(s).
  4. Select or deselect enhanced AV and recording settings. View Create and manage Virtual Classrooms for more information.

  5. Select Yes if you’d like attendees to join the meeting directly from a web browser without requiring the Adobe Connect desktop application.

  7. Add audio conference information, if required.

  8. Select Next.

Enroll learners in the Virtual Classroom

Only enrolled users can browse to the Virtual Classroom URL and log in to view the Virtual Classroom. View Create and manage Virtual Classrooms for more information.

Set up notifications and reminders

A Virtual Classroom notification is an email message informing enrollees how to access the Virtual Classroom. When you format your notification, you can use runtime fields in the subject line and in the body of the message.

Customize the Virtual Classroom layout

If you are a training manager and meeting host, you can create a Virtual Classroom template. Move the Virtual Classroom to one of two template folders: Shared Templates (in the Shared Training folder) if you want others to be able to access the template, or My Templates (in your user training folder) if you are the only one who uses the template.
