Learn how to resize and reflow text to fit a bounding box, shape, or path using Dynamic Text in Adobe Photoshop on desktop.
Dynamic Text automatically adjusts text size to fit within the defined boundaries on shapes and paths.
You can apply Dynamic Text as Block, Circle, Arch, or Bow, or use Dynamic fit to automatically resize text placed on any path and shape.
Select the Type tool, then select existing text or add new text.
Select Dynamic Text from the Contextual Task Bar.
Tip
You can also select Type > Convert to Dynamic Text or Dynamic Text from the Options bar.
Select the text shape: Block, Circle, Arch, or Bow. To apply Dynamic fit to any path or shape, create or select a path, add text to it, and then select Dynamic fit. To understand how each shape resizes and behaves, see Dynamic Text in Photoshop.
From the Properties panel, in the Dynamic Text section:
- For Block, adjust word and line spacing.
- For Circle, Arch, and Bow, adjust the text position and text direction.
- Select Dynamic fit to automatically resize text so it fills the selected path or shape.
Tip
For best results, enter or paste your final text before selecting Dynamic fit. This lets you preview the actual content before Photoshop automatically resizes it to fit the path.
To quickly adjust the size of the section of the shape or path where you want the text to start and end, hold down the control key, and drag the start, middle, or end 'delimiters' to different positions on the shape or path.
Also, when applying text to a path or shape, the paragraph alignment options will determine how the text will be initially positioned. To center text on a shape, select the center preset for paragraph alignment in the options bar, and select the center of where you want the text to appear.
