Learn how to enable the skimmer tool to instantly preview any part of the timeline just by hovering your mouse.
In Firefly video editor, you can enable the skimmer tool to quickly preview any part of the timeline by hovering your mouse over it. Instead of moving the playhead, the skimmer instantly displays the frame under your cursor with a simple hover-to-preview action. If you prefer more precise control, you can also turn skimming off and use the playhead for quick previews.
Navigate to the menu at the upper-left of the page, then go to Timeline > Skimmer.
The skimmer appears as a thin blue vertical line across the timeline, distinct from the thicker, grey playhead.
Hover over the timeline to preview the composition.
