Learn how to add and use Creative Cloud text assets in Adobe InDesign.
Creative Cloud Libraries let you store reusable text content and place it into documents with or without links and formatting.
Add a text asset
Select Windows > CC Libraries.
Select the Add elements icon, then select Text.
Place a text asset in a document
Select Window > CC Libraries.
Right-click and select one of the following options:
- Place linked: Adds the text as a linked asset. Updates to the library assets are reflected in the document. Character and paragraph styles are preserved.
- Place copy: Adds the text without a link. Updates to the library asset do not affect the document. Styles are preserved.
- Place without styles: Adds only the text content without styles or links.
Drag an asset onto the document to create a linked text asset.
Drag an asset with the Alt key pressed to create a non-linked text asset.
For the Place inline option, select the insertion point inside the text frame using the Selection tool, and right-click the text asset and select Place inline.

By default, InDesign imports the text asset into the document, preserving its character and paragraph attributes. If you want to use the text asset in your document as plain text without any of these associated styles, right-click the text asset in the CC Libraries panel and select the Place without styles option from the menu.
