Native support on Apple M1 computers

July 2021 release (version 15.4)

Everything is faster, from launch times to export, and editing is buttery smooth. Make short work of time-consuming tasks: Adobe Sensei features like Auto Reframe and Scene Edit Detection are  faster, thanks to optimizations for the Apple Neural Engine. 

Adobe Media Encoder also takes advantage of the Apple M1’s lower power requirements providing significantly longer battery life than the previous base model 13” MacBook Pro. With full support for ground-breaking features like Speech to Text and the new Captions workflow, you can produce cutting edge content with lighter devices that rival the performance of high-end workstations.

H.264/HEVC encode performance on Windows (Intel)

April 2021 release (version 15.1)

New optimizations further improve export times using Intel Quick Sync hardware acceleration., up to 2x faster than Adobe Media Encoder 14.0.

Support import of ARRIRAW footage

March 2021 release (version 15.0)

With support for ARRI Alexa Mini LF (ARRIRAW) footage Adobe Media Encoder now offers a comprehensive, cross-platform (Windows and macOS) solution for workflows, from camera media through to delivery. For more information, see File formats supported for import with Media Encoder.

Color Space and Gamma Changes

January 2021 release (version 14.8)

The default working color space and Gamma curve has been modified for all RED files.

Red files

  • Color space- Rec 709
  • Gamma curve- BT.1886

  • Color space- RedWideGamutRGB
  • Gamma curve- Log3G10

Komodo files

  • Color space- Rec 709
  • Gamma curve- Log3G10

  • Color space- RedWideGamutRGB
  • Gamma curve- Log3G10

Note:

All old projects continue to have the previous settings and are not impacted by this change. You can choose to change the colour space and Gamma space as per your requirements.
