Learn how to edit, format, and enhance text on PowerPoint slides imported into Adobe Captivate. Add new text elements and use AI features to generate content.

Overview

When you bring a PowerPoint presentation into Adobe Captivate, all text objects remain fully editable. While the imported slides are non-responsive by default, Captivate offers built-in formatting tools that let you fine-tune text appearance, reposition elements, and apply styling directly within the platform. This means you don’t need to switch back to PowerPoint to make changes. You can also enhance your project by inserting new text blocks or leveraging AI to generate additional content.

Edit text on imported slides

Imported PowerPoint text boxes in Adobe Captivate behave like standard Captivate text objects, except they aren’t responsive—meaning they don’t automatically adjust to different screen sizes. You can still move, resize, and edit the content within them. To modify text on an imported slide:

Launch Captivate and import a PowerPoint project.
Double-click the text box and edit the content directly within the text box.

Resize and move text boxes.
- To resize: Drag the corner handles around the selected text box.
- To move: Click and drag the text box to a new spot on your slide.
Open the Visual properties panel to access all text formatting options in Captivate. You can adjust fonts, size, alignment, styles, colors, shadows, outlines, spacing, and create custom bullets or numbering. Learn more about editing text in Captivate.

Format text on imported slides

Advanced text positioning

Use the Transform settings in the Visual properties panel to precisely arrange and modify text boxes on your slides:

Width (W) and Height (H): Set exact dimensions in pixels.
X and Y coordinates: Place text at specific points on the slide.
Lock aspect ratio: Keep proportions when resizing.
Rotation: Angle text from 0 to 360 degrees.

Add new text to imported slides

You can add new text boxes directly on an imported slide. For details, see Working with text content blocks.

Alternatively, you can insert a new slide and add responsive text content blocks there. However, this applies only to the newly created slide, and not the one imported from PowerPoint.

Select the slide where you want to add text.
From the left toolbar, select Add text. A text box gets inserted onto the slide.

Position the text box on the slide by dragging it.
