Generate images using text prompts
Learn how to generate images from simple text descriptions using Firefly on mobile.
Learn how to generate images from simple text descriptions using Firefly on mobile.
Tap Text to image.
Describe the image you want to create in the Prompt field.
- Use clear, straightforward language with at least three words to create effective text prompts.
- If you want to specify text in an image, use quotation marks. For example, "Firefly" or "Hi".
Tap General and choose from the Adobe models and Non-Adobe models.
Image variations are generated according to the image model you choose.
- Adobe models:
- Firefly Image 4 Ultra: Generates one image.
- Firefly Image 4: Generates four image variations.
- Firefly Image 3: Generates four image variations. If using Fast mode, you can upscale before downloading
- Non-Adobe models:
- Imagen 3: Generates one image.
- Imagen 4: Generates one image.
- GPT Image: Generates one image.
- Flux 1.1 Pro: Generates one image.
- Flux 1.1 Ultra: Generates one image.
- Flux 1.1 Ultra (Raw): Generates one image.
Set the aspect ratio you want to use for the generated image variations.
Use the settings in the bottom panel and refine the image generation further:
- Content type: Tap Art, Photo, or Auto select content type to allow Firefly to automatically select the content type according to the prompt.
- Visual intensity: Adjust the slider to control how closely the generated images should match the Style reference.
- Composition: Add an image or select one from the library to use as a reference, allowing Firefly to match the outline and depth of the reference image.
- Style: Add a reference image to match the visual style and aesthetic, add Effects, Color, Lighting, and Camera angles.
Tap the Generate icon to generate a set of image variations.
Choose an image from the generated variations and then tap the image in the top panel for the following actions:
- Share options icon > Open in Adobe Express for further editing.
- Download icon to download the image.
- Upscale icon to upscale the image if Fast mode was enabled while generating the image.
- Edit to view image editing options.
Open Firefly on mobile.
Tap Text to image.
Describe the image you want to create in the Prompt field.

Tap Model and choose from the Adobe models and Partner models and then select the close icon to confirm model selection.
Image variations are generated according to the image model you choose.
- Adobe models:
- Firefly Image 5 (preview): Generates one image variation.
- Firefly Image 4 Ultra: Generates four image variations.
- Firefly Image 4: Generates four image variations.
- Firefly Image 3: Generates four image variations.
- Non-Adobe models:
- Imagen 3: Generates one image.
- Imagen 4: Generates one image.
- GPT Image: Generates one image.
- Gemini 2.5 (Nano Banana): Generates one image.
- Flux 1.1 Pro: Generates one image.
- Flux 1.1 Ultra: Generates one image.
- Flux 1.1 Ultra (Raw): Generates one image.
- Flux Kontext Max: Generates one image.
- Flux Kontext Pro: Generates one image.
- Runway Gen-4 Image: Generates one image.
Set the aspect ratio you want to use for the generated image variations.
If you select the Adobe Models, you can select Additional settings to refine the image generation further:
- Content type: Tap Art, Photo, or Auto select content type to allow Firefly to automatically select the content type according to the prompt.
- Composition: Add an image or select one from the library to use as a reference, allowing Firefly to match the outline and depth of the reference image.
- Style: Add a reference image to match the visual style and aesthetic.
- Effects: Choose from a number of effects such as Doodle drawing, Minimalism, Simple, Anime, Art deco, and more
- Color: Select from a variety of popular color options to fine-tune the palette and overall tone of the image.
- Lighting: Adjust how lighting interacts with the subject of your image by selecting from options such as Backlighting, Golden hour, Studio light, and more.
- Camera angle: Apply real-world camera settings and styles to your generated images by selecting any of the Camera angle options.
Tap the Generate icon to generate a set of image variations.
Choose an image from the generated variations and then tap the image in the top panel for the following actions:
- Share icon to share your image via different apps or save it to your local device.
- Download icon to simply download the image.
- Modify icon to modify the generated image/s with Image to video, Generative fill, Expand, or Prompt to edit, and others.
- Open In to open the generated image/s in Express, Photoshop, or Premiere.
