Learn how to use Adobe Captivate's Generate text feature to create and refine slide content using AI. Streamline your eLearning authoring process with built-in text generation prompts.
Introduction
Creating effective eLearning slides often requires significant time and editing. Adobe Captivate’s Generate text feature makes this easier with built-in generative AI that helps you draft, refine, and adapt content directly within your project. Instead of relying on external tools or rewriting SME input manually, you can quickly create polished text that streamlines the entire content creation process.
Key features and benefits
- Generate text content from simple prompts: Generate slide text using custom or ready-made prompts for instructions or ideas.
 - Rephrase for clarity and engagement: Transform complex language into learner-friendly content.
 - Improve readability for diverse audiences: Simplify jargon and technical terms for better understanding.
 - Auto-correct grammar and structure: Ensure professional-quality training materials.
 - Restructure content into scannable formats: Convert dense paragraphs into bullet points or lists.
 - Adapt tone for different learner groups: Customize messaging for various roles, skill levels, or regions.
 - Translate eLearning content: Support multilingual training programs with AI-generated translations.

Real-world use cases
These real-world use cases show how the Generate text feature in Adobe Captivate helps organizations across industries simplify complex information, localize content, and adapt training materials for diverse learners.
| Use-case | Challenge | How Generate text helps | Example output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pharmaceutical Training | A pharma company must simplify complex FDA rules for sales reps with different educational backgrounds. Legal text is hard to read and intimidating. | Simplifies regulatory language into everyday terms while focusing on key actions. | Original: “Per 21 CFR 312.32(c), sponsors must ensure that investigators are qualified…” Prompt: “Simplify this FDA rule for sales reps.” Result: “Before working with any doctor, review their credentials to ensure they’re qualified to test our medications safely.” |
| Hospital Nursing Training | A hospital must train nurses on new medical equipment, but the official manuals are written for engineers. Nurses require patient-focused, practical instructions. | Converts technical specifications into nurse-friendly training highlighting safety, patient care, and troubleshooting. | Original: “Device setup requires calibration using the internal diagnostic console. Ensure torque output remains within 15–18 Nm during initialization.” Prompt: “Turn this equipment manual into nursing training content. Focus on patient safety, common problems, and when to call for help.” Result: “Before using the device, ensure it runs its startup check. If the screen shows any warnings, stop and call a technician—do not attempt repairs. Always confirm that the device is safe for patient use before beginning a procedure.” |
| University Engineering Courses | Engineering faculty members must present the same technical concept to students with very different levels of math knowledge. A single version is either too complex or too simple. | Creates tiered versions of content for advanced, intermediate, and beginner, so that all students can follow along at their level. | Original: “The Laplace transform of a function f(t) is defined as F(s) = ∫₀∞ e^(-st)f(t)dt, which simplifies solving linear differential equations.” Prompt (Advanced): “Provide full technical detail with math proofs.” Result (Advanced): “The Laplace transform converts differential equations into algebraic equations, simplifying their solution. Proof involves integration by parts and properties of exponential decay.” Prompt (Intermediate): “Simplify these calculus concepts for students who haven’t finished advanced math.” Result (Intermediate): “The Laplace transform is a shortcut for solving equations with rates of change. Instead of solving step by step, we change the equation into a simpler form, solve it, and then translate it back.” Prompt (Beginner): “Explain this engineering principle using everyday examples, avoiding complex equations.” Result (Beginner): “Think of the Laplace transform like translating a problem into another language where it’s easier to solve. Once solved, we translate it back into the original form to understand the real-world answer.” |
| Workplace Ergonomics | Making workplace safety guidelines accessible and actionable for all employees | Refines and adapts slide text for clarity and relevance | Prompt: “Rewrite this slide for an office-based environment, focusing on practical ergonomics tips.” Result: “Office-based environment: There will be no need to move around working at heights repeatedly. More time should be spent on each ergonomic or workspace setup.” |

Generate text using prompts
With the usage of text prompts, you can produce professional, consistent, and accessible eLearning content faster, helping you focus more on learner experience than on text editing. Refer to the article on how to write prompts for text generation in Captivate for more details.
