A "Not enough memory" warning appears when you copy artwork

As you copy artwork, a "Not enough memory" warning message appears. After you click OK, Illustrator crashes.

Solution 1: Latest version of Illustrator

  1. Update the lates version of Illustrator to your device. 
  2. Relaunch Illustrator and continue.

Solution 2: Reset the preferences to the default settings

If you want to restore the default settings for Illustrator or change the current settings, delete the Illustrator preferences. Illustrator automatically creates a preference file, when you restart Illustrator and save a file.

To manually restore preferences to default

  • Remove or rename the Adobe Illustrator Prefs file. When you restart Illustrator, a new preference file will be created in the original location.

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut

  • Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) as you start Illustrator. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator.

Solution 3: Plugins and scratch disk

  1. Choose system drive as primary.
  2. Choose Illustrator > Preferences > Plug-ins & Scratch Disk.
  3. Choose Plug-ins & Scratch Disk as secondary pop up menu.
  4. Click OK and restart Illustrator.

Solution 4: Graphic card drivers and system OS

For Window, ensure that the graphic card drivers are updated.

For MAC, ensure that the the latest version of system OS is installed.
