Add generated music to your timeline (beta)

Learn how to create music, sound effects, and soundscapes that fit your video directly in Adobe Premiere.

Finding the right audio for your video can mean searching through music libraries, looking for sound effects, or manually building ambient sound. Generate music, sound effects, and soundscapes directly in Premiere to create audio that fits your edit without interrupting your workflow.

Generate a sound effect

Select the Generative Media Tool and add a range in the timeline where you want to add a sound effect.

In the Generative Media toolbar, select Generate sound effect.

Describe the sound effect you want to create.

To guide the generation further, use either of the following options:

Select Sync to video to generate a sound effect that aligns with the action in your video.
Select Record guide to record a reference sound that helps guide the generated result.

Select Generate. The duration is based on the range selected in your timeline. The toolbar also shows the number of generative credits required before you generate.

Preview the result with your edit. Update the prompt and generate again to create a different result.

Generate music

Select the Generative Media Tool and add a range in the timeline where you want to add the music.

In the Generative Media toolbar, select Generate music.

Describe the music you want to generate. Include details such as the mood, style, or instruments you want to hear.

Set the Tempo to Auto BPM or enter a specific BPM. Select Loop if you want the generated music to repeat.

Select Generate. Premiere generates music for the selected range and adds the result to your timeline.

Preview the generated music with your edit. To create a different result, update the prompt or tempo and generate again.

Generate a soundscape

Select the Generative Media Tool and add a range in the timeline where you want to add a soundscape.

In the Generative Media toolbar, select Generate soundscape.

Review the visible video content in the selected range. Premiere uses the visible content to guide the generation of sound effects and ambient audio.

Select Generate.

Preview the generated soundscape with your edit.

Generated music, sound effects, and soundscapes are added to your timeline as audio clips. You can trim, move, and apply effects to them like any other audio in your sequence.
