Generate Music (beta) overview

Generate Music lets you create original instrumental music directly in your Premiere (beta) sequence, so you can build a soundtrack as you edit. You start by selecting a section of your timeline, then describe the kind of music you want so Premiere (beta) can generate options that match the moment in your edit.

Each generated result appears in your timeline as an audio clip that you can work with immediately. You can trim it, move it, or apply effects in the same way you would with any other audio in your project.

Create music that fits your edit

You can guide the generation by writing a prompt that describes the mood, style, or purpose of the music you need. If you want more control over the musical direction, you can expand your prompt with more detailed musical characteristics.

You can also set the tempo before generating so the music aligns with the pacing of your sequence. Premiere (beta) then generates multiple variations so you can compare different options directly against your video and choose the one that fits best.

If none of the results work for your edit, you can adjust your prompt or tempo and generate a new set of variations.

Keep generated music in your editing workflow

Generated music is added directly to your timeline as standard audio, which means it behaves like any other clip in your sequence. You can edit it using the same tools you use for recorded or imported audio.

Premiere (beta) also saves each generation in the Generation history, along with its variations, so you can return to previous results and reuse them without having to generate them again.

Use generated music in your projects

Generate Music uses Adobe’s audio model to produce original instrumental music that is designed to be commercially safe for use in your projects. You can include generated music in your edits and publish them across platforms without additional licensing steps.

The feature is designed for background music in video editing and does not generate vocals or lyrics.

Generating media uses generative credits, and usage varies across models and options. The Generative Media Toolbar always shows how many credits the current combination will use, and you can check your balance from your profile.
