Acrobat X closes after launch for Creative Cloud subscribers

Issue

Acrobat X appears to freeze and quit on launch on a system with other licensed Creative Cloud products.

Solution


Step 1: Install the latest version of Adobe Application Manager from the following links:

Windows
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773

Mac OS
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774

Step 2: Relicense other CS6 software.

  1. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
  2. Launch a regular CS6 product other than Acrobat or Flash Builder (for example: Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign, Flash Professional, Illustrator, or Dreamweaver).
  3. Choose Help > Deactivate.
  4. Deactivate the application, and then quit the application.
  5. Launch the product you deactivated in step 4.
  6. Click License This Software on the user interface.
  7. Sign in with the Adobe ID associated with your subscription.
  8. Launch Acrobat X to confirm it opens successfully.
