"Unknown Server Error" when logging in to Creative Cloud

Problem

When you try to log in to a Creative Cloud application after updating the Creative Cloud desktop app, you receive an "Unknown Server Error" message.

Solutions

Solution 1: Update to the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app

The Creative Cloud desktop app version 1.0.0.183 and later include an update that resolves this issue for most users. In most cases, Creative Cloud downloads and installs the update automatically when you sign in. If you're unable to sign in from the Creative Cloud desktop app, then do the following:

  1. Visit http://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/desktop-app.html.
  2. Sign in with the Adobe ID associated with your Creative Cloud account. Click the Sign In link at the upper-right corner of the page and follow onscreen instructions. 
  3. Download and install the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app - click the Download button at the upper-right corner of the page and follow onscreen instructions.
  4. Launch the Creative Cloud desktop app and sign in.

Solution 2: Clean up cached user login information

  1. Close the Creative Cloud desktop app.
  2. Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
  3. Delete the opm.db file.
  4. Launch the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Solution 3: Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app and clean up cached user login information

  1. Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app. 
    • Windows
    1. Open the Windows Control Panel > Programs And Features.
    2. Choose Adobe Creative Cloud and click Uninstall/Change.
    3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
    • Mac OS
    1. Open Finder and go to /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
    2. Double-click Adobe Creative Cloud to remove.
    3. Follow onscreen instructions.
  2. Repeat the steps from Solution 2 to clean up cached user login information.
  3. Repeat the steps from Solution 1 to reinstall the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app.
  4. Launch the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Additional information

If the OOBE folder is not visible in the specified location, change your system settings to allow hidden files and folders to be displayed.
