Make text stand out with shapes, shadows, and cutouts

Convey your unique vibe with text that reflects your brand’s look and feel. Here are three ways to do it. 

Option 1: Add shapes 

First, select the text you want to edit. Then, scroll to Shape from the Text panel and choose to add either basic or decorative shapes to your text. Refine the shape — including fill color, size, and opacity — to get the look you want.  

Option 2: Add shadows 

Start by selecting header text from a project on your canvas to open the Text panel. Then, scroll down to Shadow and select an effect. Edit the color, blur, angle, or distance of the shadow using the options in the Shadow panel.  

Option 3: Add cutouts 

With the Shape panel open, choose a basic text shape. Then try the cutout effect using the Cutout text button. This works best when the basic text shape is bold or thick.
