AI Assistant in Adobe Express creates designs and edits photos on your phone from a prompt or a suggested AI Idea.
Explore what you can do
With the AI Assistant, you can:
- Create designs and images: Describe what you want and get a ready-to-use design, or turn a photo into a social post.
- Edit and retouch photos: Clean up your photo, remove or replace objects, or create a Pro headshot or Product shot.
- Adjust the details: Change colors, text, and layouts until your design looks the way you want.
- Switch between AI and manual editing: Use the manual tools anytime to move quickly with prompts, fine-tune by hand, or work entirely without AI.

Here's how AI Assistant fits into your workflow:
- Prompts and ideas as a starting point: You type a prompt, choose one of the suggested AI Ideas, or add a photo or drawing.
Note: AI ideas are ready-made prompts shown as Trending AI ideas. Selecting one automatically fills the prompt bar.
- Results you can build on: You get a set of results to review, then open one in the editor or ask for more options.
- Refinement over time: You can keep adjusting with more prompts, since results can vary, until the design looks right.
- Saving for later: You can find your designs in Files and return to AI editing anytime with the AI edits icon in the editor.
Write effective prompts
A short prompt or a selected AI Idea is enough to get started, and AI Assistant fills in the details for you. Add detail only when you want more control, focusing on the subject, look and style, colors, or mood.
- Short prompt: Create a headshot.
- More guided prompt: Turn my photo into a professional headshot with a plain gray background, keeping it natural and not heavily retouched.
