Configure Agreement AI generative summaries - New

Last updated on Sep 1, 2026

Control whether users can generate AI summaries for agreements and whether those summaries can be shared with recipients.

Agreement AI generative summaries let eligible users generate a concise AI summary after an agreement is sent.

Use Agreement AI generated summaries settings to control whether the feature is available to users in your account or group and whether generated summaries can be shared with recipients.

Before you begin

Agreement AI generative summaries are available only when all applicable requirements are met:

  • The account is an eligible VIP account.
  • The account is hosted on a supported NA or EU shard.
  • Your organization has accepted the required Adobe generative AI terms.
  • The account isn't configured for HIPAA readiness.
  • Limited Document Visibility isn't enabled for agreements that use recipient sharing.

The feature-specific content limit for summary generation is 16 MB, even when the agreement itself is otherwise within Acrobat Sign's normal file-size limits.

Configuration

Availability

  • Acrobat Sign Solutions: Supported for eligible VIP accounts
  • Acrobat Sign for Government: Not supported
  • Acrobat Standard: Not supported
  • Acrobat Pro: Not supported

Agreement AI generative summaries are available only on supported NA and EU shards.

Configuration scope

Agreement AI generative summaries can be configured at the account and group level.

  • Group-level settings override account-level settings.

Default value

Enabled for eligible accounts after the required Adobe generative AI terms are accepted.

In-flight impact

Configuration changes affect whether users can create or share AI summaries for eligible agreements going forward.

Changing these settings does not create a summary for an existing agreement.

Summaries are generated only after an eligible agreement has been sent.

Dependencies

Agreement AI generative summaries are available only after the required Adobe AI terms are accepted.

Enable or disable recipient access to AI-generated summaries

Sign in to Acrobat Sign as an administrator.

Go to Send Settings > Agreement AI generated summaries.

Select or clear Allow senders to share an AI-generated summary with the recipients.

Select Save.

Controls

Enable AI summaries for users in my account or group

Enable this setting to make Agreement AI generative summaries available to eligible users.

When enabled, users can generate a summary after sending an eligible agreement.

When disabled, Agreement AI generative summaries aren't available to users governed by the setting.

Allow users to share summaries with recipients

Enable this setting to let users share an AI-generated summary with recipients.

When sharing is allowed, the sender can decide whether to make the generated summary available to recipients.

Disabling recipient sharing does not necessarily disable summary generation for the sender. It prevents the generated summary from being shared with recipients.

Recipient sharing isn't available when Limited Document Visibility is enabled.

How the settings work

The admin settings control whether users can access Agreement AI generative summaries and whether sharing is permitted.

The generation workflow occurs after send:

  1. The sender sends an eligible agreement.
  2. Acrobat Sign makes the AI summary capability available after send.
  3. The sender generates and reviews the summary.
  4. If recipient sharing is allowed by the applicable admin setting, the sender can choose to share the summary.
  5. Eligible recipients can review a shared summary from the signing experience.

The full agreement remains the authoritative source. AI-generated summaries are informational and can contain incomplete or inaccurate information.

For sender steps, see the related article for using Agreement AI generative summaries when sending an agreement.

When the feature isn't available

Agreement AI generative summaries aren't available when:

  • the account isn't an eligible VIP account;
  • the account isn't hosted on a supported NA or EU shard;
  • the required Adobe generative AI terms haven't been accepted;
  • the account is configured for HIPAA readiness;
  • the content submitted for summarization exceeds 16 MB.

Recipient sharing is additionally unavailable when Limited Document Visibility is enabled.

These eligibility rules apply independently of whether the admin setting is enabled.

Best practices

Enable recipient access when senders need to help recipients review long or complex agreements before signing.

Tell senders to review and edit AI-generated summaries before sending the agreement.

Do not use summaries as a replacement for reviewing the full agreement.

Disable recipient access when your organization does not want recipients to see AI-generated summaries.

Things to know

  • Summary generation occurs after send, not during authoring.
  • Enabling the feature doesn't automatically generate a summary for every agreement.
  • Recipient sharing can be controlled separately from feature availability.
  • The 16 MB limit applies specifically to summary generation.
  • Accounts configured for HIPAA readiness can't use Agreement AI generative summaries.
  • Recipient sharing isn't available with Limited Document Visibility.
  • Agreement AI generative summaries are currently limited to eligible VIP accounts on NA and EU shards.
