Rotate objects

Learn how to turn a pixel layer into a rotatable 3D object with Rotate object in Adobe Photoshop on desktop.

Rotate a selected layer on the canvas to view it from different angles and adjust its orientation.

Apply rotation

Select File > Open to select and open an image.

Select a pixel layer or Smart Object layer with the object you want to rotate.

Tip

Rasterize Shape and Type layers before using Rotate Object.

Select Transform image > Rotate object from the Contextual Task Bar or Edit > Rotate Object  .

Drag on the canvas to rotate the object, use the on-canvas controls to adjust the rotation, or select Rotate or Tilt from the Contextual Task Bar. You can also refine the rotation in the Properties panel.

Select Done to apply the rotation.

Note

A low-resolution preview appears while rotating the object. After you select Done, the result is rendered at the full image resolution. You can reopen Rotate Object to make further adjustments.

Edit rotation

Select the rotated layer, then Transform image > Rotate object from the Contextual Task Bar or Edit > Rotate Object.

Drag the on-canvas rotation controls to adjust the object, or use Rotate or Tilt from the Contextual Task Bar. For precise adjustments, enter rotation values in the Properties panel.

Select Done to apply the updated rotation.
