How to resolve CEPHtmlEngine.exe - No Disk Error when opening a file in Photoshop

Issue

When you launch Photoshop on a Windows computer, a CEPHtmlEngine.exe - No Disk error dialog box opens with the message 'There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive D:.'

Workaround

To fix the issue, do the following:

  1. Click Cancel in the CEPHtmlEngine.exe - No Disk dialog to exit the error window.

  2. Open Registry Editor.

    Press Windows + R keys or choose Start > Run. In the Run dialog, type  regedit  and click OK.

  3. In Registry Editor, navigate to:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Windows

  4. Double-click ErrorMode.

  5. In the Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value dialog that is displayed, change the Value data field from 0 to 2.

  6. Launch Photoshop again to work with a file.
