Edit a gradient

Learn how to customize gradient colors, transitions, and transparency using on-canvas controls and the Properties panel in Adobe Photoshop on desktop.
From the toolbar, select the Gradient tool.
In the Options bar, select the gradient preview to open the gradient presets, then select a preset.
Click and drag across the canvas to apply the gradient.
Adjust the gradient using the on-canvas controls or the Properties panel:
- Drag the gradient line on the canvas to change direction and length.
- Select a color stop to change its color.
- Drag color stops to adjust how colors transition.
- Select along the gradient line to add a new color stop.
- Drag a stop away from the line to remove it.
- Adjust the midpoint between stops to control the blend balance.
Select Save Preset in the Properties panel to save the gradient.
