Follow this step-by-step guide to resolve a failed installation of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application.

When installing or updating the Creative Cloud desktop application, you receive an error such as:

  • Creative Cloud desktop failed to install
  • Creative Cloud desktop failed to update
  • Error code 1
  • Error code P1
  • Error code 50
  • Error code P50
  • Error code 1001
  • Error code 1002

Try the following solutions in order. Stop once you're able to successfully install the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Solution 1: (For error 1001 on Mac only) Download Creative Cloud desktop app

  1. Quit Creative Cloud desktop app.

  2. Mount the downloaded file.

  3. Find and double-click from the mounted folder.

  4. Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, or with your social (Facebook or Google) account.

Solution 2: Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app, and then reinstall it

Solution 3: Run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool

  1. Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove the current installation of the Creative Cloud desktop app. See Run the CC Cleaner Tool.

  2. In the CC Cleaner Tool, choose option 3: Creative Cloud 2015, Creative Cloud 2014, Creative Cloud & CS6 Products. Then choose option 1: Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop.

  3. Rename the following OOBE folders to OOBE.old:



    • \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
    • \Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

    Mac OS


    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE

  4. Download and reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app.  

Solution 4: Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app using an administrator account

Create a new local user account with administrator privileges, and log in using that account. Then download and reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app.
