Generate sound effects using text prompts
Learn how to generate sound effects using simple text prompts with the Generate sound effects feature.
Learn how to generate sound effects using simple text prompts with the Text to sound effects feature.
On the Generate SFX screen, tap the Generate sound effects button.
If you want to add a video and generate sound effects for it, use the Upload icon. Once added, it will start reflecting in the timeline.
- The uploaded file should be a maximum of 30 seconds long.
- Currently, .mp4, .mp3, .mov, .wav, and .aac formats are supported.
Scroll through the timeline and place the playhead at the exact position where you want to generate and insert the sound effect.
Select the Short sound option from the available options.
- Short Sound: Generate a sound effect using a brief text description.
- Add timing: Use your voice to convey volume and energy, and combine it with text prompts to generate sound effects.
In the prompt bar, add a description of the sound effect you want to generate and tap the Generate icon.
Play and preview the generated variations and select the one you want, and then tap Add sound effects.
To create another sound effect on the same track, move the playhead to the desired position, then use the Prompt bar to generate the effect.

To layer audio, tap the add track icon and generate a new sound effect directly on the newly created track.
When you select a sound effect added to the timeline, you have the options to mute it, adjust the volume, download it, rename it, or delete it.
To trim a generated sound effects clip, drag the trim handles at either end inward to shorten it. After trimming, move the clip along the timeline to reposition it as needed.
Use the play button to preview the sound effect and use the icon to access the download option.
Launch the Firefly app and select Sound effect from the homescreen.
On the Generate sound effect screen, enter a prompt describing the sound you want to generate.

- Currently, only English is supported for text prompts.
For popular sound effects, select the tabs at the top of the prompt dialog box to auto-populate the prompt description and generate the sound. You can select from the following sound effects:
- Birds: Birds chirping in a forest.
- Monster: Low monster growl.
- Explosion: Explosion of shattering glass.
- Radio: Shortwave radio sounds.
- Stormy: Thunder, rain, and lightning.
- Racing: Race car, formula one, revving.
Tap the Generate icon.
Select the Play icon next to a variation to preview the generated audio.
Tap the Save icon to save the selected audio to your device, or select Open In to open the selected audio in Adobe Premiere.
If you want to go back to the generation screen and adjust the prompt description, select the Adjust settings option.
