Learn about panels in Firefly video editor and how they help you organize, edit, and fine-tune your project with ease.

When working with the Firefly video editor, you can access multiple panels to work with media files, text components, timeline properties, and selected media properties. Each of these panels is designed to help you organize, edit, and fine-tune your project with ease.

In the Firefly video editor, you can work with the following panels:

Your media panel

The Your media panel can be enabled by using the Your media icon in the left sidebar of the editor. This panel lists all the media files you’ve added and the timeline in your video editor. Using this panel, you can:

  • Upload new media files
  • Delete media files
  • Create a new timeline
The Your media panel is open and it lists all the videos added as well as the timeline. There are options to search the timeline as well as upload new media files.
Use the Your media panel to view all the media files added to the timeline.

Generation history panel

The Generation history panel can be enabled by using the Generation history   icon in the left sidebar of the editor. This panel allows you to:

  • Browse through the generated media, including the ones you have added as favorites
  • Generate new videos directly within the editor, or navigate to the image and sound effect generation pages.
  • Drag and drop generated media from the panel to your timeline.
The Your media panel is open and it lists all the videos added as well as the timeline. There are options to search the timeline as well as upload new media files.

Text panel

The Text panel can be enabled by using the Text   icon in the left sidebar of the editor. This panel allows you to adjust text properties in the timeline.

The Text panel is open and there is an options to add a text layer in the timeline.

Properties panel

In the timeline, each layer can be a video, image, or text. When you select a layer, the Properties panel automatically activates based on the layer type. It provides options to adjust properties such as size, position, and other edit settings, allowing you to customize the selected layer based on your editing needs.

Properties panel displays editable options such as position, scale, rotate, opacity, and speed.

Generation settings panel

The Generation settings panel allows you to use the Firefly Video model to generate videos using multiple customizable controls, such as resolution, aspect ratio, keyframe images, style presets, and camera angle.

Text-based editing panel

The Text-based editing panel lets you work directly with the transcript of the video clip selected in the timeline. You can use this panel to navigate the timeline through the transcript and edit the text to build and refine the video.

To activate this panel, select a video clip that contains speech, then select the Text-based editing  icon in the right panel. Firefly video editor will automatically transcribe the audio, and the transcript will appear in this panel, allowing you to edit the video using the text.

The Text-based editing panel is open and the speech in the video is transcripted for you to edit.
Use the Text-Based Editing panel to edit your video using the generated transcript.
