Canvas

A Canvas placement in the Ai TB is used to add secondary Steps. A Canvas placement does not currently create coach marks pointing to a specific location. 

Menu Bar

Most Menu Bar options can be recorded. However, if a particular Menu Bar option is not available for recording, add a new numbered Canvas Step to continue to lead users through your tutorial.

When instructing users to open a panel, create a coach mark using the Menu Bar and NOT Panel elements.

Panels

These are only two scenarios where you should use Panel > Panel elements to create a CM: Panel > Properties and Panel > Layers. You create these steps choosing a series of drop down menus directing where the coach mark will be placed. The record button does not appear for Panel elements items. 

Point to the Panel element for the first Step. This will add a coach mark to the correct area. For sequential panel items, do not send the user to the Panel again, as they are already focused on that element. Instead, add a new numbered Canvas step and continue leading users through your tutorial.
