Purchases through Microsoft Store FAQ

What is the Microsoft Store?

The Microsoft Store is an application on Windows desktop and devices (phone or tablet) used to purchase, download, install, and license applications. The Microsoft Store tracks user purchases through their Windows login ID and password, allowing them to redownload their applications on multiple machines.

For more information, visit https://www.support.microsoft.com/products/windows.

Can I download a free trial of Adobe software through the Microsoft Store?

Yes, you can download a free trial of 7 days from the Microsoft Store.

Where are Adobe products available for purchase through the Microsoft Store?

Purchases can be made worldwide. Languages available are:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Japanese
  • Dutch
  • Swedish
  • Italian
  • Spanish
  • Czech
  • Polish
Note: When you download and install an Adobe application from the Microsoft Store, all available languages are included. The Windows OS settings determine the language that the application uses. From the Windows menu, go to Settings > Time And Language > Region And Language. If the Adobe Application supports the first language on that list, it is used. If not, the next language on the list is used, and so on.

Will a purchase from the Microsoft Store version of Adobe software include a serial number?

No, the Microsoft Store handles licensing.

What if I want to return an Adobe product purchased through the Microsoft Store?

As the product was purchased and licensed through the Microsoft Store, Microsoft, and the Microsoft Store handle all returns.

Does my purchase of Adobe software through the Microsoft Store qualify me for an upgrade discount?

Customers who purchased from the Microsoft Store can upgrade to current retail versions at a discounted upgrade price.

Navigate to http://www.store.adobe.com and find Adobe Photoshop Elements. After clicking Buy, choose Upgrade and select the Microsoft Store product you are upgrading from within the pop-up menu of qualifying upgrade products.

There is currently no way to get an upgrade discount inside the Microsoft Store.

Does a purchase from the Microsoft Store qualify for a Post Announce Upgrade?

When you purchase an Adobe product around the time of the release of a new version, you could qualify for a free upgrade. However, a purchase through the Microsoft Store does not qualify for a Post Announce Upgrade. For more information on Post Announce Upgrades, see Upgrade policy after new product announcement.

What if I need technical support?

The Microsoft Store handles the download, installation, licensing, and updating of all products purchased through it. If you encounter an issue with an Adobe product during one of these four processes, visit http://www.support.microsoft.com.

For all other issues, including program errors and how to questions, visit http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshop-elements. This page has online Help, links to the user-to-user forums, and the phone number to call Adobe Technical Support. Additionally, you can visit http://feedback.photoshop.com to have your questions answered.

Why aren't product updates available, like the updates for the non-Microsoft Store version?

Although the product name and version number are the same, a Microsoft Store purchase is a separate build of the application. The Adobe Application Manager (updater) is not installed with Microsoft Store versions of Adobe software. Manually downloaded patches from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ don't update a WAS version. The Microsoft Store handles all product updates.
