JavaScript global object is inaccessible for PDFs opened through OLE interface

With the May 2021 security release of Acrobat, we are blocking access to the global objects for PDF documents opened through the OLE interface. This is done to restrict access to global objects. You won't be able to add or access any existing attribute of a global object in the JavaScript framework provided by Acrobat.

To access or extend a global object, disable the Global Object Security (GOS) policy preference in Acrobat by doing the following:

  1. In Acrobat, go to Edit > Preferences (Windows), or Acrobat > Preferences (macOS).

  2. Choose JavaScript in the left pane, and then deselect the option Enable global object security policy.

Uncheck the Enable global object security policy option

  3. Click OK. Quit Acrobat, and then re-open.
