Work with system audio in Adobe Captivate Classic 7

System audio refers to the audio from your computer's speakers. For example, audio associated with YouTube videos or the sound you hear when error messages pop-up in some applications. Adobe Captivate Classic lets you capture or record system audio while recording a software simulation or a video demo. You can also add system audio to a slide after creating a project by recording or importing.

Huomautus:

Adobe Captivate Classic does not support recording of system audio on Windows XP. On Mac, ensure that you have installed and configured Soundflower to record system audio for Adobe Captivate Classic projects. For more information, see this article.

You can add system audio only to a specific slide. This means, you can import or edit system audio using the following options in the Audio menu:

  • Import To > Slide
  • Record To > Slide
  • Edit > Slide

When a slide contains both narration and system audio, the Timeline displays two different layers for both these audio waveforms.

A. Narration B. System Audio

However, in a video demo project, the system audio does not exist on a separate layer in the Timeline. Narration and system audio are merged into a single audio waveform. The two types of audio are available as two different items in the Edit Audio dialog box and Adobe Captivate Classic Library.

You cannot add closed captions to system audio.

Right-click the audio waveform in the Timeline and select Remove.

Huomautus:

When you click Remove Audio in the Audio accordion of the Property Inspector, both narration and system audio associated with the slide are deleted.
