Common Import errors in Lightroom

Facing problems while importing photos in Lightroom? Here are some common import errors and their solutions.

Error: Some photos were not added. Duplicate items while importing photos in Lightroom.

Solution

Some images or videos have not been imported because Lightroom found an identical copy that was previously added.

You might experience this error if you have downloaded Lightroom from the Microsoft Store. We recommend uninstalling the Microsoft Store version of Lightroom and installing it via the Adobe Creative Cloud app

Alternatively, you can change the location of where your photos get stored. Click Edit > Preferences > Local Storage (Windows) or Adobe Lightroom > Preferences > Local Storage (Mac) and click the Browse button in the lower right to set a new directory. 


Error: Some photos were not added. Unable to copy these files from the connected device while importing files from a connected device into Lightroom.

Unable to copy from connected device

Check if the device is connected properly to your system. You might also experience this error if you have downloaded Lightroom from the Microsoft Store. We recommend uninstalling the Microsoft Store version of Lightroom and installing it via the Adobe Creative Cloud app.
