Learn to add pauses in the speech text so that the generated speech sounds natural and expressive.

Add pauses in the speech text in a few simple steps.

When you add text or upload a file to generate speech using the Generate Speech (beta) feature, you have the option to insert pauses and customize their length to ensure the generated speech reflects the intended rhythm, pacing, and natural flow.

Before you begin:

Enter speech text or upload a text file, then customize the voice, accent, and other settings.

In the text editor, place the cursor at the point where you want to insert a pause in the speech.

Right-click and select the Add pause icon.

Select the Add pause icon to create pauses in the generated speech and make it sound natural.

A horizontal line is added, with an indication of the length of the pause in seconds. By default, the pause added is one second.

Select the pause indicator to view options for changing the length of the pause.

Adjust the pause length by selecting the desired pause time, ranging from 1 to 3 seconds.

Add as many pauses as needed.

Select Generate.

Preview the generated speech and select Download to save it in MP3 or WAV format.

The generated speech is available for review, with options to play or scrub through it.
Review the generated speech by playing or scrubbing through it before downloading.
