Use Beat Detection for music-synced edits

Last updated on May 4, 2026

Learn how to automatically detect beats in your audio and sync clips to create perfectly timed edits in Adobe Premiere on iPhone.

Beat Detection identifies rhythms in your audio and displays them as markers on the timeline. You can use these markers to align clips precisely with the beat, helping you create polished, music-synced edits more efficiently.

Open your project in Premiere on iPhone and go to the timeline editor.

Select the audio or music track you want to analyze.

Scroll through the bottom menu options and tap Beat.

The Beats sheet opens. Turn on the toggle to view beat density options.

Turn on the Beats toggle to choose how many beat markers to display.

Choose one of the following:

  • Fewer: Adds minimal beat markers for broader timing.
  • More: Adds more frequent markers for finer control.
  • All: Displays all detected beats.

Premiere analyzes your track and adds beat markers to the timeline.

Once markers appear, drag a clip to snap it to the nearest beat. You’ll feel a haptic tap when the clip locks into place.
