When you click any menu such as File, Edit, Object, and so on in the Illustrator workspace on your Windows computer, the menu disappears unexpectedly.

Solutions

1. Change the CEP HTML Engine folder content

  1. Move the content from the CEPHTMLEngine folder to somewhere else as a backup (in a folder on your Desktop for example). See the path below for the folder location.

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2017\Support Files\Contents\Windows

  2. Delete the content of the original folder after creating a copy.

  3. Download CEPHTMLEngine.zip on your computer:

  4. Extract the content of the zip folder downloaded in step 3 into the following folder (same content you backed up and deleted in the previous step):

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2017\Support Files\Contents\Windows

2. Run the command: netsh Winsock reset

  1. Close all applications.

  2. Choose Start and type CMD to launch the command prompt.

  3. Type the following command at the command prompt: netsh Winsock reset

  4. Press Enter.

  5. Close the command prompt window.

  6. Restart your computer.

  7. Launch Adobe Illustrator.

3. Uninstall Lavasoft Ad-ware

This issue may also arise if you have the Lavasoft Ad-Aware software installed on your Windows computer. This software may be installed as a browser extension or as part of another software package (for example, ManyCam Software).

  • To resolve this issue, uninstall or disable Lavasoft software and/or associated software (for example, ManyCam Software).
