Add commands to actions

Learn how to add commands to an existing action using the Actions panel in Adobe Illustrator.

Select Window > Actions.

In the Actions panel, select the action name or an existing command where you want to insert a new command.

Select the Begin Recording icon and perform the steps or changes you want to record.

The Actions panel displays an action name selected from the list and the Begin Recording option highlighted. — Select Begin Recording to capture each step you perform as part of a new action.

Select Stop Playing/Recording icon once you’re done. The new command is now saved inside the selected action or below the selected command.

To move a command, drag it to a new location within the same or another action in the Actions panel, and release when the highlighted line appears in the desired position.
