FAQ | Adobe Media Server on Amazon Web Services

The below is a FAQ to enable AMS customers to migrate from Amazon Web Services Devpay to Amazon Web Services Marketplace.

Amazon is discontinuing the Devpay platform and requires all software vendors to migrate their offerings to Amazon Marketplace. This change allows the vendors to offer new features to their customers available only on marketplace. It allows customers to access the current generation instances that are powerful yet more economical than the old generation instances.

The Adobe Marketplace Installer (AMI) subscription is available at https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00IGJMIOI.

Alternatively, if you are on the AWS marketplace, you can search for Adobe Media Server.

A customer can continue to use their Devpay subscription until they migrate. New versions of Adobe Media Server are available only on the Amazon Marketplace. Amazon recommends all software vendors to move to marketplace.

Manage your Devpay subscription from https://aws-portal.amazon.com/gp/aws/user/subscription/index.html?ie=UTF8&offeringCode=88BCA47A.

AMIs of the latest version of Adobe Media Server (AMS), which is 5.0.5, are available on Amazon marketplace. AMIs of Adobe Flash Media Server (FMS) version 4.5 and FMS version 4.0 are not available on the marketplace.

FMS version 4.0 has reached end of support and FMS version 4.5 reaches end of official support in September 2014.

There are two ways to launch AMS--via EC2 console and via One-click method. You can find detailed instructions in the AMS for AWS Marketplace guide.

The supported instances remain the same. The number of RTMFP connections supported also remains the same.

Adobe is marginally increasing the prices reflecting the extra cost of doing business on Amazon Marketplace.

The customer is charged a total of Amazon EC2 price and AMS Marketplace price. AMS Marketplace price is fixed across all regions. As the Amazon EC2 prices vary across regions, the customer charges vary accordingly.

The customers can reduce their overall charges using Reserved and Spot instances. Adobe will shortly launch AMS on the current generation instances. These are more powerful and economical than the old generation instances available on Devpay.

The following is the pricing for US-E region. The prices for all the regions are available on the Marketplace product page.
