Video transitions using clip handles

Sist oppdatert 21. jan. 2026

Learn how to create and adjust video transitions directly on clips using visual handles in Adobe Premiere.

Premiere lets you create and adjust video transitions directly on clips using transition handles in the Timeline. Video transition handles make adding and adjusting transitions faster and more visual. By reducing the need to move between panels, it helps streamline everyday editing tasks and keeps your focus on the Timeline.

Video transition handles

Video transition handles appear at the start and end of video clips in the Timeline. Dragging a handle applies your default video transition to the edge of the clip. As you drag, the transition duration updates visually on the clip.

This interaction makes it easier to see where transitions begin and end while you work in the Timeline. Use transition handles to create a cross-dissolve between two adjacent clips or to create and adjust transitions across multiple selected clips, including clips on different tracks.

More control with transitions

You can fine-tune a transition by dragging its handle to adjust the duration. The applied transition uses your default video transition settings, allowing you to control the transition type through your defaults.

This workflow keeps transition creation and adjustment directly in the Timeline.
