Go to the RoboHelp installation location:
Learn how to resolve the spinning issue when you try to open a local WebHelp output of a RoboHelp (2017 or 2015) project in Firefox version 68.
Follow the instructions on this page to download updated .js files and replace them in the specified location in your RoboHelp installation.
We recommend that you take a backup of the existing .js files before replacing them with the files you download from this page.
This issue has been fixed in Update 9 of RoboHelp Classic (2019 release).
Go to the RoboHelp installation location:
<Drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp <version>\RoboHTML
In the above location, the version number is to be replaced with the version of RoboHelp. For example, if you are using RoboHelp (2015 release), then the version number will be 2015.
Take a backup of the WebHelp5Ext folder.
Download and extract the contents from the following ZIP files.
The WebHelp5Ext-<version>.zip file contains the updated version of the WebHelp5Ext\template_stock folder. There are three updated files within the template_stock folder: whproxy.js, whstub.js, and whutils.js.
Copy and paste the newly extracted WebHelp5Ext folder into the RoboHelp install location.
When you are prompted, click Yes to merge and overwrite the existing files.
Regenerate the WebHelp output.
After performing these steps, the local Web Help output loads properly in Firefox. However, some features might still have limited availability. To fix this issue, perform the following additional steps:
Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar.
On the warning message page, click I Accept The Risk.
Search for security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy.
By default, the value for security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy preference is set to true.
Double-click on the security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy preference to change its value to false.
If you do not have any business reason to access the local file system, then it is recommended to turn the security setting back to true.
