Enable protected print mode on Windows
Learn how to enhance PDF printing security by enabling Windows Protected Print Mode for Adobe Acrobat.
Windows Protected Print Mode (WPP) is a feature designed to enhance the security and efficiency of printing processes in Windows. With the introduction of a new Virtual Printer Architecture based on the Print Support App (PSA), Adobe Acrobat users can access a safer and more reliable printing experience. The new Acrobat PDF Printer integrated with WPP provides advanced security features while preserving the functionality and quality of your documents.
Enable WPP mode
Turn on Windows protected print mode under Printer preferences.
Confirm the warning prompt to remove the old driver and install the new Adobe PDF Printer driver.
Switch back to the old driver
Select Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
Turn off Windows protected mode under Printer preferences.
Confirm the warning prompt to uninstall the new driver and reinstall the old PDF Printer driver.
If the Adobe PDF Printer isn’t visible or working after you enable or disable WPP, try repairing Acrobat. To repair Acrobat, select Menu > Help > Repair installation.
