Search and redact text in Acrobat Pro
Learn how to find and remove sensitive words or phrases in PDFs using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Try it in the app
Remove sensitive content and hidden data from your PDFs in a few simple steps.
In the dialog box that opens, select any of the following under Search for option:
- Single word or phrase
- Multiple words or phrase
- Patterns
Specify the location where you want to search words or patterns under Where would you like to search? and then select Search & Remove Text.
Select Check All in the Search dialog box to choose all occurrences, or select the check box next to each item you want to redact.
Select whether you want to mark whole words or partial words for redaction under Redaction Mark Options.
Select Mark Checked Results for Redaction, and then select anywhere in the document to reopen the Redact a PDF pane.
Select Apply. In the dialog box that opens, choose if you want to sanitize and remove hidden information by selecting the toggle button, and then select Continue.
Enter the filename and location in the Save Sanitized Document dialog box and then select Save.
