Adobe ended the Adobe Story CC service on January 22, 2019. Both Adobe Story CC and the Adobe Story CC (Classic) are discontinued. The Adobe Story CC offline application has also ended. See End of service FAQ for more information.
Versioning a document helps create a history for the document, and monitor changes to a document over time.

In the desktop application, the History feature is not available in the offline mode.
(Session-based) When you edit and save a document for the first time in a session; close the document, reopen it, and then save it again.
(Desktop application) When you update a document in the offline mode, and then switch back to the online mode.
(Collaborative mode) When another user gains control of the document for editing.
(Overwrite) When you click Make Latest in a previous version of the document. The previous version is now treated as the current version of the document.
