Issue: Elements 13 software crashes at launch on Windows 7 computers
When you launch Photoshop Elements 13, Premiere Elements 13, or Elements Organizer 13, the software crashes even before the splash screen appears.
Solution: Install Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Windows 7
The error occurs due to a bug in Microsoft software. For more information, see this article. To prevent Elements software from crashing, install Service Pack 1 for the Windows 7 operating system.

Click the download button and then choose a download appropriate for your version of operating system:
- Windows 7 (64-bit): windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe
- Windows 7 (32-bit): windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe

Run the executable file downloaded in the previous step. Confirm the necessary dialogs and actions, and allow the installation the complete.

To verify that Service Pack 1 was installed correctly, click Start, right-click Computer, and click Properties. The Windows edition section must have the mention of Service Pack 1, as displayed in the screenshot below.
