The %CCX_Start_PANEL_NAME extension could not be loaded error when launching Photoshop

You get the following error when you try to launch Adobe Photoshop:

The %CCX_Start_PANEL_NAME extension could not be loaded because it was not properly signed.

Product versions affected

Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.5

Operating systems

Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10

Workaround

To resolve this issue:

1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (X86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP.
2. Do any one of the following:
   1. Rename the extensions folder.
   2. Remove the faulty extension from the extensions folder.
3. Navigate to C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Photoshop CC 2015.5\Required\CEP
   
4. Repeat Step 2.
5. Launch Adobe Photoshop.
