Export photos in multiple formats

Learn how to select file formats and quality settings to save edited images for different uses.

Exporting photos in the right format ensures your images display correctly and maintain quality across different platforms and uses.

Use the export workflow when you need to save edited photos with specific format, dimension, or quality requirements. This differs from the Save copy to device option, which saves your photo using default settings. Premium features like Content Credentials and Include Watermark are available with a paid subscription.

Select the source for exporting your photos:

Select the Lightroom tab to export photos stored in your Lightroom cloud storage.
Select the Gallery tab to share images directly from your device without importing them.

To share multiple photos, select and hold a photo, and then select the checkbox on each photo you want to share.

Select Share > Export as .

In the Export as panel, select a File Type such as JPG, AVIF, JXL, DNG, TIF, or Original.

Manage the following settings based on the selected File Type:

For JPG and TIF formats, select the Dimensions drop-down menu, and then select Largest Available Dimensions, Small (2048 px), or Custom to specify a pixel value up to 15,000 in the Long Side field.
For TIF format, select the required options from the Bit Depth and Compression drop-downs, and then enable Save Transparency if needed.
For AVIF and JXL formats, enable the HDR Output toggle to include extended dynamic range data.

Select the Quality drop-down menu, and then select a value between 10% and 100% to balance file size and image quality.

Enable Content Credentials, Include Watermark, and other options as required, and then select Done .

JPG exports with HDR content automatically use the Gain Map technology. At display time, compatible screens combine the base image with the Gain Map to show enhanced brightness and color. Standard displays show the base image without issues.
