What is GPU acceleration?
GPU-accelerated computing is the employment of a graphics processing unit (GPU) along with a computer processing unit (CPU). It facilitates the playback of the average timeline in real time at high quality. You can playback GPU-accelerated effects and transitions in real time without rendering them. Playback in real time without rendering is also possible in case the media added to the timeline does not match the project settings. This feature also accelerates the encoding pipeline and thus reduces the export time taken by Premiere Elements.
GPU acceleration feature isn't supported in the trial version of the application. This feature is only available if you've purchased the application and have the recommended GPU card on your machine. Relaunch the application after activation.

Identify GPU accelerated effects and transitions
GPU accelerated effects and transitions can be identified with a () icon.
Identify if GPU accelerated rendering is enabled for your project
Open Project Settings > General and view at the bottom of the dialog box to check if your current project has GPU-accelerated rendering enabled.
When you use GPU-accelerated effects and transitions, a yellow render line will appear. The yellow render line indicates that playback will play by rendering each frame just before the CTI reaches it and playback at full quality might be in real time.
Switch GPU accelerated rendering on and off
Select Preferences > General and use the check box highlighted in the image below to switch GPU-accelerated rendering on or off.
GPU driver requirements for Premiere Elements 2023 release
Premiere Elements 2023 onwards, the application supports all GPUs. The requirements for different GPU manufacturers are given below.
NVIDIA CUDA graphics acceleration requirements for macOS and Windows
NVIDIA CUDA graphics acceleration requires CUDA 10.1 or newer drivers.
CUDA isn't a requirement for running the Adobe video apps, but if you prefer CUDA graphics acceleration, you must have CUDA 10.1 or newer drivers from NVIDIA installed on your system before upgrading to Premiere Elements 2023.
Updating NVIDIA Drivers on Windows
You can run Premiere Elements with the latest GeForce series GPUs or Quadro Series cards.
These drivers are updated regularly, it's recommended to check the NVIDIA website to be sure you have the most current version for your GPU.

Updating display driver and CUDA 10.1 driver for macOS
Requirements for running CUDA 10.1 on macOS:
- Requires macOS 11.0 or newer.
- An NVIDIA GPU with a minimum 4 GB of memory.
- NVIDIA display driver version 387.10.10.10.40.128 or newer.
Update the device driver before you install the CUDA driver. You can update the device driver from the following locations:
- Display driver: 387.10.10.10.40.128 (direct download).
- CUDA driver: 130_macos (direct download).
Apple Metal GPU acceleration
Adobe supports those versions of Windows and macOS that are still actively supported by Microsoft and Apple. For macOS, that typically means the three most recent versions.
Intel GPU driver update requirements
Premiere Elements 2023 require a recent version of the Intel graphics driver. Your Intel driver version must be version 27.20.100.8476 or newer to avoid any stability and performance issues.
100.8476 refers to the last two places of the complete version of the Intel driver (i.e. 27.20.100.8476)
Adobe recommends that you try to obtain a compatible driver from your PC manufacturer. If a compatible version is not available, Intel makes a generic version available on its website.
If your driver is older than 100.6286 and your PC manufacturer does not provide a compatible version, it is recommended that you do not install a version later than 100.6286 from the Intel site. Driver version 100.6444 is a Windows DCH driver which does not install cleanly on top of older, legacy drivers.
Adobe highly recommends making a backup of your system, first. If you have difficulty installing the driver, check the following website:
