Your journey in Illustrator on the web (beta) begins with creating, opening, or importing your documents. These documents are automatically saved as Creative Cloud documents and are also accessible from the desktop and iPad app. Cloud documents let you work with full document fidelity without the risk of losing unsaved work. Also, you can track, manage, and restore document versions anytime making it.
Before you begin:
- Familiarize yourself with Creative Cloud documents and how to manage them.
- You can also collaborate with stakeholders by inviting them to edit your document.

You can open artwork with other formats (AiT, Ai, PDF, SVG, WebP, and HEIF) and edit them on the web app. On the home page, select the Import icon, choose the file, and then select Open.
Illustrator on the web (beta) auto-saves your document every three minutes. If your document isn't saved, the name of the document shows an * asterisk in the title bar. You can save your file manually while working on the document.
-
Press Ctrl + S (Windows), press Cmd + S (macOS) or select the icon and then select Save.
You can select the icon to view the date and time when the document was saved. Your document will be available in the Recent section of the home page.
If you're not connected to the Internet, your updates are auto-synced once you're back online. However, if you close the browser before you're online, all the updates made after it was last saved will be lost.
-
Select the name of the document in the title bar and do the following:
- To rename your document, select Rename, and then type the new name.
- To modify Units and view other information about your document, select Document settings.
- To view, restore, or modify previous versions of your document, select Version history.
Finalize your artwork
You can take your artwork to Illustrator on the desktop and refine it by selecting the Open in desktop app button. Once your artwork is complete, select Share > Publish and export to save it in other formats (PNG, JPEG, AiT, Ai, PDF, and SVG) and share it with anyone, anywhere.
