Issue: Problems with Mac App Store versions of Photoshop Elements 11 and 12

You may have trouble launching versions 11 and 12 of Photoshop Elements purchased from the Mac App Store. The following message is displayed when the launch error occurs:

This issue occurs because of the expired security certificate used by Apple to verify applications bought from the Mac App Store.

Solution: Uninstall and reinstall Photoshop Elements

To resolve the issue:

  1. Uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements.
  2. Log out of the Mac App Store.
  3. Empty Trash.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Log back in to the Mac App Store.
  6. Re-install the Adobe Photoshop Elements application.

Note: If the following message is displayed when launching Photoshop Elements 13 bought from the Mac App Store:

“Please do not launch this application from within the
application package. Instead, please launch from your Applications folder”,
