Troubleshooting & help

Download & install

How do I download and install Character Animator?

Character Animator CC is installed via the Creative Cloud apps catalog or desktop app, and is available as part of an All Apps plan. You’ll need to sign in with your Adobe ID and password to complete the download. For more information, including how to install older versions or check for updates, see Download and install Creative Cloud apps

If a Preview or Beta version of Character Animator is currently installed, Character Animator CC will not appear as an update, but instead as a separate app to install. If the Beta version is no longer needed, uninstall it from the Creative Cloud app. Earlier Preview versions of Character Animator are uninstalled when the corresponding version of After Effects that it came with is also uninstalled.

When Character Animator CC is installed, Adobe Media Encoder CC is also installed to easily render movies of your scenes. After Effects CC no longer automatically installs Character Animator CC, so install it separately if needed.

Even though Character Animator CC is only available via All Apps plan, Preview and Beta versions of Character Animator (including those available as part of a Single App plan of After Effects CC) can still be used.

Existing projects and puppet files created with the Beta version of Character Animator can be opened in Character Animator CC. These files are not removed when the Beta version of Character Animator is uninstalled.
