Creative Cloud Libraries panel doesn't load in desktop products

Note:

If you uninstall the Creative Cloud Desktop app and reinstall it as part of some troubleshooting, the Libraries panel inside a Creative Cloud desktop app may stop working. To resolve the problem, see Libraries panel stopped working.

Error: Something went wrong initializing Creative Cloud Libraries

When attempting to use the Creative Cloud Libraries in supported desktop applications, the panel doesn't load, and returns the following error:

Something went wrong initializing Creative Cloud Libraries

Workarounds

Adobe engineering is currently working to address this issue. In the meantime, the following workarounds allow you to use the feature until a more permanent solution becomes available.

Relaunch the CCLibrary process

  1. Close any open Adobe products that use Libraries, including:

    • Photoshop CC
    • Illustrator CC
    • InDesign CC
    • Premiere Pro CC
    • Adobe After Effects CC
  2. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app from the icon in your taskbar.

  3. Use the keyboard shortcut Command+Option+R (Mac OS) or Ctrl+Alt+R (Win). This relaunches Creative Cloud and all its support processes, including CCLibraries.

  4. Relaunch the Adobe product in which you received the Libraries error.

Recreate the Libraries cache

  1. Close all Creative Cloud applications.

  2. Sign out of your account in the Creative Cloud desktop app.

See: Deactivate your app from your desktop in Activate and deactivate Adobe Creative Cloud apps

  3. Navigate to the following folder.

    • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    • Win: C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

NOTE: The Library folder is hidden on the Mac OS. To reveal it, see: Can't see user library files in Mac OS X 10.7 and later

NOTE: The AppData folder is hidden on the Windows OS. To reveal it, see: Show hidden files and folders in Windows 10 and earlier

  4. Delete the Creative Cloud Libraries folder.

  5. Log into your account in the Creative Cloud desktop app and relaunch the Adobe product in which you received the Libraries error.

See: Activate your app in Activate and deactivate Adobe Creative Cloud apps

Ensure that your hosts file is properly set up

  1. Navigate to the following folder:

    • Mac OS: /etc
Note: This folder is normally hidden. In Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, type in "/etc" (without quotes) and click the Go button.
    • Windows: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  2. Open the "hosts" file (in a simple text editor like Notepad or TextEdit).

  3. Verify that you do not have any Adobe websites listed. If any are listed, you can delete them or add a # to the beginning of the line to comment them out.

    For example, change:

    127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com

    to

    #127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com

  4. Verify that you have the following line and that it is not commented out (does not have a # at the beginning):

    127.0.0.1 localhost

  5. (Optional) Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to repair you hosts file. See instructions here: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Ask your organization's network administrator to do the following:

  1. Open the PAC/WPAD proxy configuration file.
  2. Make sure that the following setting is present:
    FindProxyForURL(url, host)
    if (isInNet(host, "127.0.0.1", "255.255.255.255")) {
         return "DIRECT";
