Create reusable templates with brand controls

Learn how to convert your file into a reusable template with controlled permissions and brand style restrictions, ensuring your team can collaborate while maintaining on-brand content.

Create reusable templates with brand restrictions and share them with team members for faster, more reliable template creation and remixing, all designed to make template distribution across your organization simple and scalable. Follow along to learn how to apply brand restrictions, enable controlled or guided editing experiences, and confidently share templates with your team while maintaining on-brand content.

This feature is available for Teams and Enterprise plans.

Open a file in Adobe Express, and select the Share button from the header. 

Select Convert to template  .

Select Info to add the following template details:

  • Enter a name in the Template name field.
  • Click Select next to Location to choose a Project to save the template, then click Select again to confirm.
  • Add any tips or guidance for the collaborators in the Template note field.
  • Turn on the Contact toggle to add contact information.

Select Locks if your design includes locked elements, and then select one of the following options:

  • Users can unlock layers if needed
  • Users with a passphrase can unlock layers if needed (Enter a Passphrase for the collaborator to unlock the layers)
  • No users can unlock layers

Select Style to set restrictions for color, font, and editing options. Select the toggles to apply limits.

In the Style panel, apply brand and image replacement controls:

  • Select brands: Click Select to choose the brands that define the allowed fonts and colors. You can add up to five brands per template.
  • Assets can be replaced from: To limit where replacement images can be sourced, click Select next to Specific locations. Select up to three locations from Brands, Libraries, or Projects, then select Add to confirm.

Note: If a collaborator doesn’t have access to a brand or an asset location to replace an image, they can request access. Learn more about how template remixers can collaborate on your template and request access.

Adobe Express editor open in the Convert to template workflow. The Style panel is open with options to restrics color and font to brands and image swap controls.

Select Review and approve to add review and approval workflows to the template if needed.

Select Keep a copy of this file to keep a copy of the original file, and then select Convert to template.

Once the template is saved, navigate to its location to share the template or the entire project with your collaborators. You can continue editing the template and publish any changes you make.
