Learn how to use vertical and horizontal rulers, lock guides, and layout presets in Adobe Express to help you accurately position objects in your designs.

Open a design in the Adobe Express editor.

Select File from the header, and then select Rulers and guides > Show Rulers.

A design of a gift with black background, opened in the Adobe Express editor with a grid overlay, and the "Rulers and guides" option highlighted in the File menu.
Enable the "Show Rulers" toggle to display vertical and horizontal rulers on the page.

Tip

Select Layout guides to instantly apply a guide grid to your page. Select from industry-standard layouts such as 12 columns, 3 columns, and more. Guides are automatically locked to keep them in place while you work and can be cleared at any time without affecting your design.

Hover over the ruler to reveal the add   icon. Select it to insert a guide, then drag the guide to position it as needed.

Select a guide to display the delete   icon on the ruler, then select the icon to remove the guide.

To prevent the guides from moving, select File> Rulers and guides, and then select Lock guides.

To hide all guides and rulers on the page, select Files > Rulers and guides, and toggle Show Rulers off.
