System components can conflict with the Adobe Creative Suite installer and result in an incomplete or failed installation. System components can include a numerous hardware and software devices such as DVD-ROMs, device drivers, and virus protection utilities. To prevent these conflicts, install Adobe Creative Suite from the desktop.

Create a desktop installation point from your DVD or electronic software download (ESD) media. After you have created the desktop installation point, install the Adobe Creative Suite 3. The instructions below will guild you through the process of creating a desktop installation point and then installing the Adobe Creative Suite 3.

Important: When repairing or removing Adobe Creative Suite 3 installations, the original source media must be present. If you perform a installation from a desktop installation point, then the desktop installation point must exist when performing a repair or removal in the future. If you delete the Adobe Creative Suite 3 desktop installation point after completing the installation, then you must re-create the original desktop installation point before you perform the repair or removal.

Create a desktop installation point from the DVD

  1. Insert the first Adobe Creative Suite 3.0 disc into the DVD-Rom drive.

    Note: The Design and Web Suites have only one disc for installation.

  2. Close the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Autoplay.
  3. Click the Start button, and then click Computer (My Computer on Windows XP) .
  4. Right-click the DVD-Rom, and then select Open.
  5. Right-click Adobe CS3 folder, and then select Copy.

    Note: Replace Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium with the product version. The product version folder names for discs are:

    Suite Folder
    Master Collection Adobe CS3
    Production Premium Adobe CS3
    Design Premium Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium
    Design Standard Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard
    Web Premium Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium
    Web Standard Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard
  6. Close the Adobe Creative Suite 3 folder.
  7. Right-click on the desktop, and then select Paste.

    Note: The Adobe Creative Suite 3 folder can be pasted in another location.

  8. Proceed to the section, "Install Adobe Creative Suite 3 from the desktop installation point ".

Create a desktop installation point from the electronic software download (ESD) media

  1. Download the executable file.

    The default names for the ESD executables are:

    Suite Download
    Design Premium DesignPremCS3_Win_WEB_UE.exe
    Design Standard DesignStanCS3_Win_WEB_UE.exe
    Web Premium WebPremCS3_Win_WEB_UE.exe
    Web Standard WebStanCS3_Win_WEB_UE.exe
  2. Double click on the executable and follow the on screen instructions. This will automatically extract the files to your desktop.

    Note: The Adobe Creative Suite 3 folder can be extracted to another location. By default the contents will be extracted to the desktop.

  3. Proceed to the section, "Install Adobe Creative Suite 3 from the desktop installation point ".

Install Adobe Creative Suite 3 from the desktop installation point

Before you install, close all applications currently running on your system. This includes other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, IM clients and web browser windows.

  1. Open the Adobe Creative Suite 3 folder on the desktop and double-click Setup.exe.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Adobe Creative Suite 3.
