When you use the Connect option in Firefly video editor, secondary layers, such as footage, images, titles, or audio, are linked to a primary clip, typically the one at the bottom of the layer stack. This connection ensures that all linked media stay aligned with the primary clip. Essentially, it locks your secondary media to the primary clip, so when you adjust the timeline or move the primary clip, everything connected to it moves accordingly. This helps maintain synchronization and prevents your edits from shifting out of place.
When layers are connected, you can still move each one individually along the timeline. However, if you move the primary clip, all connected layers will move with it automatically.
Before you begin:
Create a new project and add media files or text elements to the timeline.
Navigate to the main menu at the upper-left of the page and select Connect under the Clip option.
Repeat this process for each layer you want to connect with the primary clip.
Once connected, these layers will move in sync with the primary clip, keeping your timeline organized and edits consistent.
Tip
If you need to disconnect a layer from the primary clip, select the layer you want to remove from the connection. Then, navigate to main menu > Clip > Disconnect.
